Not for the faint hearted, heavy peated malt for smokey beers or smoked whisky,
using the peat furnace of our maltings in Glenesk, Scotland.
HOW IT IS MADE
We produce this malt at our Pauls Malt Ltd. plant in Glenesk, Montrose, Scotland. With heavy levels of phenols from locally sourced Scottish peat, it can be used in smoked porters and ales. Peated Malt is made using the same malt production regimes as (plain) distilling malt, with the reek of the peat from the peat furnace passing through the kiln bed.
